Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine says ‘it’s not a crime to be black in this country’

Governor Mike DeWeese (R-OH) said Thursday that there’s “no crime” in the state to be a “black person” and that people shouldn’t feel the need to “police” their surroundings to be safe.

The former governor said at a press conference that while it’s “not a crime” to be “black” in Ohio, he doesn’t want to encourage white people to think they should feel comfortable policing their neighborhoods.

“It’s a very dangerous time to be an African American, particularly in the Black community,” DeWees said.

“I’ve been in this business a long time and I’ve never seen anything like this before.

People are really being violent, and it’s not only people of color, but it’s also white people who are doing it.”

DeWees added that it’s a “dangerous time” for police to enforce laws that protect the safety of everyone.

“We’re going to make sure that we keep everyone safe,” DeWines said.

“I don’t think we should be in a position where we are policing to protect our community, and I don’t believe that is what we need to be doing.

I don of course agree with everything they are saying.

I’m glad that they have been elected, but the time for that is over.”

DeWines is one of four Republicans in the Ohio House of Representatives who have vowed to introduce a bill that would create an oversight commission to examine and monitor local police departments and local laws regarding race.

The panel would also investigate policies and practices in the Cleveland area and other areas of the state.
