Espanyol win Copa Libertadores, EspanyOL draw 2-1 with Sporting Gijón

Espanyols victory over Sporting Gínicos at the Copa Sudamericana on Tuesday night was followed by an 0-0 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The home side earned the win after a 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid on Saturday night, while the visitors took the lead through the introduction of new signing Cristian Alves in the 74th minute.

The game went to extra time, and as Alves took his place, Espanols goalkeeper Luis Alberto pulled off an impressive save to deny Gijon a second win in as many league matches.

Espanyol have not won in their last four games in all competitions.

Sporting Giro d’Italia holders Real Madrid have not managed to score in five matches in the competition.
