US census data reveals shocking racial disparity in America
More than half of all American adults are black, according to census data, and about four in 10 African Americans live in poverty.
The report, released Friday, was based on data from the American Community Survey.
The U.S. Census Bureau also released an analysis of its own data.
The U.N. refugee agency has called on the Trump administration to reverse the U.C.V. and provide more help for people in need.
The data showed that the median income of a black person living in a city with a population of at least 500,000 was $21,900, according the Census Bureau.
That’s about half of what the median white person living that same city earned.
The median income for a white person who is in the same city was $41,100.
